Upon your arrival in Upington after a comfortable overnight luxury coach trip from Cape Town (included in price), we pick you up in our overland safari truck and head north for the great Kgalagadi (Kalahari) Transfrontier Park. One of the largest conservation areas on earth totalling and amazing 3,6 million hectares, the Kgalagadi is a transfrontier park meaning that we’ll be game driving each day along the borders of Namibia, South Africa and Botswana!

Home to a myriad of big and small game species including huge black-mane lions, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, hyena, jackal as well as large herds of antelope including Oryx, wildebeest, red hartebeest, springbok, kudu and eland our game drives are sure to be full of great sightings and great photo opportunities.

Upon arrival in the park at Tweerivieren camp we’ll take lunch here as well as a refreshing swim before embarking on a wondrous 3 hour game drive to our camp for the next two nights in the beautifully wild and remote Mata-Mata camp situated on the border of Namibia. At our camp there is also a floodlit waterhole so we can view animals while sitting around our campfire.

On our game drives we drive along the network of gravel roads that criss-cross the park, visiting the various viewpoints and the permanent waterholes around which animals congregate.

Molopo Lodge is truly an oasis in the desert with a fantastic bar, swimming pool and restaurant, it is also very close to the location of the last indigenous tribe of San Bushman in South Africa, the Khomani. These earliest residents of the Kalahari have been living in this region for over 40 000 years.

Day 4   Orange River Valley, Wine Tasting & Augrabies Falls National Park

A fun and relaxing day today, after breakfast and breaking camp we leave Molopo and say farewell to the Bushmen as we head back to Upington. After a short stop in town to pick up supplies we make our way through the lush green vineyards of the Orange River Valley to the small oasis town of Keimoes and the worlds second largest wine distillery at Oranjerivier Wine Cellars. Here you will have the opportunity to savour an assortment of their fine wines while your guides prepare a picnic lunch for you on the lawns.

After our wine tasting, in the mid afternoon, we travel a short distance to our camp for tonight in the wonderful Augrabies Falls National Park, situated only a stone's throw from the mighty falls. The name Augrabies derives from the Khoi people who call it 'Akoerabis', meaning 'the place of great noise', here the  mighty Orange River thunders it's way into a deep granite gorge giving birth to a spectacular 56m waterfall, the 5th largest cataract falls in the world!

After setting up camp there is an opportunity to go on a fantastic 5km guided hike to explore the park and this evening we soak in yet another splendid African sunset from the lookout platform situated above the falls... the ancient rocky landscape turning from bright orange to crimson red in the setting sun as you savour a few frosty sundowner drinks from the nearby bar. Tonight while your guides prepare your evening meal, the local river guides will join us around our campfire to tell us more about tomorrow's planned adventure on the water.
